Hundreds gather in Boise to stand in solidarity with Asian-Americans

BOISE, Idaho — Tuesday, March 23rd at 6:30 p.m. Several hundred people turned out in Boise to honor the lives lost in Atlanta, GA. The vigil was held at Anne Frank Memorial in downtown Boise and also recognized victims of Asian hate crimes — crimes that have seen a 150% increase since the beginning of 2020.

Appointment of Honorary Consul of Japan in Boise, Idaho

Effective November 1, 2020, the Government of Japan has appointed Mr. Ed Klopfenstein as Honorary Consul of Japan in Boise, Idaho.

The State of Idaho is home to a Japanese community and Japanese companies, and many Japanese Americans (Nikkei), as well. This makes it a region with strong ties to Japan.
The Honorary Consul Mr. Klopfenstein is expected to assist the Consular Office of Japan in Portland in the protection of Japanese interests and exchange activities with Japan and thus to deepen the mutual understanding and friendship between the United States and Japan and further strengthen the region’s ties with Japan.
